Overview
Energy Trust of Oregon approves Solargraf as a remote solar assessment tool
Solargraf is now an approved remote solar assessment tool, accepted by Energy Trust of Oregon. As part of the approval process, Energy Trust provided Solargraf with two plans for residential solar projects in the state of Oregon. On each plan, several points on the roof were marked. The Energy Trust had previously captured shading data using a Solmetric SunEye at these various points on each roof.
Solargraf created designs for each roof, including a 3D model of the property, complete with obstructions, neighboring properties, and surrounding trees. The designs were generated using high-definition aerial imagery and LiDar data, combined with proprietary modeling algorithms.
Using these designs, the Solargraf team was able to accurately predict shading (SAV, TOF and TSRF) for all 34 locations across the two addresses.

What this means for installers
As a result, solar installers in Oregon may now use Solargraf for their solar shade analysis when applying for incentives with Energy Trust.
Energy Trust requires solar trade ally contractors seeking incentives to demonstrate a project’s anticipated energy output by completing a solar resource evaluation. This process analyzes site-specific conditions—such as roof angle and orientation, as well as shading—to deliver realistic performance expectations for customers. By using Solargraf’s robust simulation technology, installers can conduct these evaluations off-site, accelerating project timelines and simplifying the customer journey from proposal to installation. As part of the application process, contractors are required to upload a shade report – which can be downloaded from the Solargraf design tool - to the PowerClerk portal. Details on the application process can be found here.
Why it matters
With Solargraf now formally recognized by Energy Trust, approved solar trade allies have access to a powerful new tool that streamlines operations, cuts internal costs, and supports broader deployment of renewable energy solutions for both residential and commercial customers.
