FAQs: Drawing Tool (Classic Design Tool)

Published on 10 Dec 2021

Thus guide will walk you through frequently asked questions related to the Solargraf classic design tool.

Drawing

  • Why do I get the message "The following addresses are already created in your system"?
When a user enters a new location, the system will check whether there are any projects created within a 100 m radius of that address. If yes, it will display the list of addresses for which projects have already been created - to warn users of potential duplicate projects. It is possible that the list addresses are different from that entered, but that they are within the 100 m radius.

  • What is the largest system size I can draw on Solargraf? We recommended designing systems up to 200 kW on Solargraf. It is technically possible to design a system larger than this, but it is not advised. There is also a limit of $100 Million on the System Price that can be modeled on the Solargraf proposal.

  • How do I turn off the snap feature?
The snapping feature in Solargraf's drawing tool helps you complete your drawings by 'snapping' your cursor into place. You may find it useful to enclose an array or to add in shapes, but it can sometimes get in the way. You can only turn off the snap feature while working on a computer. To turn off the snap feature, simply press and hold down the SHIFT key while drawing.

If you are working on a touchscreen device such as an iPad, it is not possible to turn off the snap feature.

Satellite Images

  • How often does Nearmaps update their imagery?
Nearmap images are updated every 3-6 months.

Shading

  • When is the shading analysis available?
Shading analysis is only available when the image the user is drawing on comes from one of Solargraf's map service providers, Eagleview or Nearmap. The user will not be able to perform a shading analysis on an image they uploaded.

  • Which projects can I order a shade report for?
Shade reports are only available for select locations and only when using Nearmap. If you are able to click on the "Order a Shade Report" button, then this feature is available for this project.
