At Solargraf, we’re committed to equipping solar professionals with tools that streamline workflows and enhance customer interactions. Our latest feature, Express Editor, empowers sales teams to make system design updates directly within the proposal, without looping back to the design team or leaving the homeowner’s side.
Why Express Editor?
In traditional sales workflows, even minor design changes — such as adjusting panel layout, or modifying battery size— often require coordination with the design team causing delays during homeowner discussions and impacting close rates.
Express Editor addresses this challenge by enabling salespeople to make key adjustments themselves, in real time, during homeowner consultations. The initial launch of this feature includes the ability to edit solar and battery size, with future updates planned to support changes to additional inputs such as energy usage, pricing, and more.
How to access Express Editor
To begin using Express Editor in Solargraf:
-
- Open a proposal that has already been generated by the design team.
- From the navigation bar, click the presentation mode button.
- Once the proposal opens, click the arrow to expand the left panel to access the Express Editor, where you can:
-
- Mark panels as “ghost” (excluded from offset/financials)
- Update battery details (manufacturer, model, quantity)
How it works
The process begins with the designer creating a max fit system design that includes all required panels and battery options. Certain panels can be marked as “ghost” panels — which are excluded from offset and financial calculations, providing flexibility for scenario planning.
Once the proposal reaches the salesperson, they can:
- Adjust the number of panels based on homeowner preferences
- Update battery specifications (manufacturer, model, or quantity)
These changes are reflected instantly in the summary panel, which recalculates the system size, consumption offset, and other key financials. The bill offset value is also dynamically updated once changes are applied.
Keeping the homeowner in the loop
As changes are made, the Express Editor can be collapsed to review the updated summary, giving both the salesperson and the homeowner a clear view of the current design and financial impact.
Finalizing the proposal
Sales iterations can happen as many times as needed. Once the homeowner is satisfied with the system configuration, they can sign the proposal directly, at which point a signed agreement link is generated with the most recent changes locked in. Installers can also mark a design as “signed” from within the proposal if they do not wish to use the e-signature option.
Designed to fit teams of all sizes
Whether you’re a small business or a large enterprise, Express Editor delivers value tailored to your sales approach.
For small installers, the feature supports a consultative, homeowner-first experience, allowing the salesperson to walk through options directly at the kitchen table, make adjustments based on feedback, and finalize the proposal in real time — all without leaving the Solargraf platform.
For larger organizations, Express Editor helps maintain clear separation between design and sales teams, allowing each to focus on their strengths. Designers can prepare accurate max-fit designs in advance, while salespeople operate in a controlled environment where they can make predefined, limited changes without needing full design access.
Importantly, there is no limit to how many times edits can be made in Express Editor. Sales teams can iterate as needed to reflect homeowner feedback until both parties are fully aligned and ready to proceed.
With Express Editor, Solargraf continues to bridge the gap between design accuracy and sales agility — helping teams of any size close deals faster and with greater confidence.
